Cushion for AP Validity when entering US

My wife will be coming back in April 2nd week through Denver. CO POE. Her AP is valid until June 3rd week.

My question is that is 2 months of AP validity / cushion enough or safe to enter the US.

Any experiences from forum members about using their AP when there is 2 months or less left in the expiry of the AP document and they entered the US. Did anyone have any bad experience at POE due to near expiry of the AP. Members entered through Denver, CO POE with their experiences would be an added help.

Also, will she get a 1 year I-94 validity from the date of entry or only until her AP expires?

Used NY POE. Arrived on July 5th with expiring AP on Sept 9th. No problems.

Arrived at IAD POE with 5 days left on AP before expiry. No problems. You will get 1 full year from the date of entry on I-94 irrespective of expiration date on AP.

Thanks. I was thinking it is Denver International Airport (DIA) for which I am looking for responses from members, since my wife will enter at DIA.

There is no problem re-entering with a valid AP, even if the validity date is the day you re-enter.

You will have a problem if your AP is expired. My daughter came back with just one month on her AP and she was stamped with extra 6 months on I-94. But I don't know the reason for that.

Thanks lagsum. So after 6 months, did you extend her I-94?. My understanding is that if you enter as parolee, there is no need to do anything even if your I-94 expires.

We did not renew her I-94. She's my dependent and I'm EAD. She doen't even have an EAD, I haven't appllied for her yet.

Our I-94 are expired now and our AP too. If I need to travel, I will need to apply for a new AP.


BTW, we entered through Denver (DIA).

All you need is your passport and AP. That's all!!!!

You will be on a separate line and the immigration officer will ask you to go to a room and wait there while they verify your status. They will ask you questions to check if your anwers are consistent with your records.

In my case.

What is the maiden name of my mother.

What did I do in UK?

Where did I go in UK?

Did you travel anywhere apart from UK?

These are just questions to find out if there are red flags in your answers.

According to my daughter, they did not ask anything.

She traveled separately from me.
