IV Project: Contest for best slogan and visual design

Immigration voice is considering selling IV merchandise on its website (check dailykos.com store and get an idea of what we are planning). This will be an added source of revenue for IV and a value item for members. We are working on finer details and implementation at this time. Vikas, IV handle- English_August, will be leading this effort and posting more details.

At this time we need help from members to suggest some slogans that we can print on various merchandise items. We need concepts for imagery and visual design. If anyone of you has design skills do contact me with your brief detail and contact info. and you can surely contribute your designs as part of the design team.

What we want on this thread from members:

- Catchy slogans
- Visual concept descriptions
- One of the idea is to design greeting cards that members can buy and send to Senators and Congressmen for IV action items. Please help with text description/visual concepts for it.

The products we will be putting up for sale are
- T shirt -- men, women and kids
- mugs
- greeting cards-- thank you.
- Hat, Cap
- Tote Bag
- Mouse pad

Prize: I will take the winners out for lunch!

It appears, in general, you should not post your ideas directly in the forum. You need to first discuss ideas with the core or moderators. If you post your ideas before discussing with core or moderators, they will be deleted.

Because many of us are not happy just with contributing to IV on a recurring basis, we also want to have IV collateral. IV has meaning just to legal skilled immigrant folks and why would anyone else care?

Well, there are a large number of members (with zero self-respect) who visit IV forums on a regular basis and in spite of multiple plea from the core, have not contributed a penny towards the IV cause. I certainly do not foresee any of these people buying the merchandise.

Once the campaign kicks in, ardent IV supporters will buy the merchandise because IV represents us and its success has a huge bearing on our success.

Design Idea 1:
===========
SLOGAN: IMMIGRANTS ROCK
PICTURES: ALBERT EINSTEIN, LINUS TORVALDUS, ANDY GROOVE, VINOD KHOSLA, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, HENRY KISSINGER

The design could be implemented on a T-shirt or a mouse pad, with the slogan on the top and the 6 six pictures in two rows.

Design Idea 2:
===========
Have a T-shirt/mouse pad with a lot of noted immigrant names jumbled in various fonts and character types.

Other noted immigrants for the above two ideas - Martina Navratilova, Maria Sharapova, noted astronaut Kalpana Chawla, scientist Chandrashekaran, Christopher Columbus, Vijay Armitraj, Andy Garcia, Sabeer Bhatia, Madeliene Albright.

I think geesee has a valid point, but if you make the design more universal AND appealing then there are chances people would buy it.

we can we get rid of the logos and just have the pictures, the picture of Amar Bose would be a little tough to convey who he is. Also, Amar Bose is a second generation immigrant(his father was an immigrant from india; not sure if it matters).

If you need more immigrant names, i have a document with roughly 40 or so names we used as tags for the flowers for the San Jose Rally - just let me know where to email it if you are interested.

I guess I also have 20 odd slogans from the rally too that could be used - my favorite is Legally Blind
