Hi,

I entered US with a F1 visa in Aug 2007, Applied for H1 in April 2009 and it got approved for 4 months, i.e from 0ct 09 till jan 10. My employer applied for H1 extension but got a RFE on April 6, my status is still pending as of yet. I recently applied to a school for Phd program and expecting an I20 very soon. If i file my change of status, what are the chances of it getting approved? If i leave the country, can i come back with the i20 issued by the school and f1 visa stamped in 2007 if my h1 extension gets denied. How do i get back to US or how do i maintain my status with out spending an year out side the country. Its an emergency and quick reply is highly appreciated.

Hi.. Change of status to f1 can be done from most of the other status like h4.. H1.. F2.. L1.. All we need is a bit of legal documentation and an addmission into a good university.
