Default H-1B transfer, vacation possible in between?

My employment with company A is ending soon (60-day notice layoff).
Fortunately I have found another job. I'm getting my H1 transferred.

Is it possible to take a break of a week/10-days in between jobs?
I will not be on either payroll during those days....

What will my status during those days be?
Is it worth the risk?
I hear abt the 60-day grace period after ones employment ends... is that just a matter of interpretation or a law?

My old employer will take time since the termination date to inform the USCIS.
Is that something that will of help?

Smile No problem... if the vacation out of the country

Its never a problem, if the vacation is out of the country. You can take vacation as long as you, no limit on the duration.

Within US, it is a different story.

Thanks for the reply.
Whats the "story" if the vacation is within US?

Does the fact that there is a H1B transfer petition pending give me anything concrete to stay in US?
or if the H-1B transfer petition gets approved before I end my current employment (say thru premium processing) puts me in a safer state?

One thing for sure is future employer said he can request my H1 transfer to be active only from the date I really begin reporting to work there.... hence the need to inform him right now about my start date there....
