Default Regarding EAD usage

Hi,

Can I use EAD and work for consulting purpose(contract) and work for other companies other than the GC sponsoring company even though my I140 is pending. If there is RFE on I-140, do we need to show paystubs from the sponsoring company? I guess GC is for future job offer. I don't have problem regarding education and company's ability to pay. Thanks...

yes you may use EAD...
But there seems to be no consensus on maintaining H1 status while using EAD for moonlighting.

In my case I'm using EAD for the sponsoring employer (did not renew H1)

It is better to save all the paystubs as proof that you were getting paid

Default EAD while h1b.

According to ALIA, you should be able to use the EAD while on an H1b for moonlighting purposes. They've asked USCIS for clarification in their last discussion.
(sorry. no link handy.)
