Changing Job, Porting I140, CIR
My priority date is October 2010 in EB2-India category. I have been offered a position as a Clinical Specialist-Physical Therapy position by another hospital. The pay is better, great education assistance program with a decent sign on bonus. The job duties are >50% same, basically I140 can be ported. I don't see my current employer attempting to revoke my 140. Physical Therapist are exempt from filing labour, since it is a national shortage profession. Thus I see myself being able to port I140 in next six months.
However, all this talk of Immigration reform(CIR) makes me uneasy. What if rules change and I get eligible to file I485 and I have'nt completed the process of I140 porting yet. I have missed the boat several times in the past. I came to the country in 2005 with a Masters degree in Orthopoedic Physical Therapy; my last I140 was denied because of job posting issues- I lost my EAD and status-then. I had to start all over.
Do you think, I am being too paranoid ? Should I hold on to my current job? Please advice.
