Because of the rally
This is happening because of the rally.
Because of the rally, IEEE-USA mellowed down and took a moderate position on green cards issue and aligned with industry champion SIA. Otherwise, IEEE-USA and programmer's guild were as close as fraternity brothers. Remember the amendments coming out of Durbin and Sander's offices during CIR 2007?
The alliance between the nutjobs of programmer's guild and the sane, moderate members of IEEE-USA is broken.
That's actually good.
And all you guys who went to the rally deserve credit for bringing IV to a prominent position that caused moderate and reasonable organizations to take a practical working position rather than being ideological and impractical about every issue.
That's exactly why programmer's guild has 2500 members in last several years of being in existance. BECAUSE THEY REALLY DONT HAVE A VALID POINT. No one cares about them because their issue doesnt really affect anyone except a few dozen old "computer programmers" who think that Microsoft powerpoint is computer programming and cant compete with fresh, young blood from Asia with real talent and ability.
