In general immigrants face a certain pressure in their lives. Thats the pressure to succeed & not just succeed but succeed more than their counterparts from their home country...now thats the reason they immigrated in the 1st place right....this perceived success comes at a cost...one of which is increased pressure.

I am not at all stressed/under pressure. if greened excellent.If not, well, good enuf. spend 6-7 yrs here and had fun. Expectation kills joy in life (art of living).

i think some part of the Pressure co-efficient is to do with impatience...."want it now"..kind of attiude..

Impatience?.. With an EB2 I PD, I am waiting for close to 5 years now. Most of the people here are waiting even longer. We have passed the impatience stage and have reached frustration stage. From here we will go to nirvana stage and that is when having a GC will not matter anymore.

I have heard the quite opposite concepts too....
- If you want some thing very bad and work towards it, you will get it
- If you want to become something, then start already acting as if you were in that position already (Be the change you want to see...or something)

So, is it easy to maintain a positive/optimystic attitude and 'act' towards a goal with a 'focus' without the 'expectation' that you will get it? Isn't expectation/hope is what gives one the focus?

Isn't there a very thin line between "Not expecting" and non-action/pessimism.


So what is the right way of living !!!

- Focus on something but don't expect it !
- Don't despair and have hope but don't expect !
- Be optimistic but don't expect !

Sounds more like an oxymoronic way of living to me !

But then again, life itself is oxymoronic isn't it! You live to die eventually !

I disagree that there is more stress for immigrants. I think its a misconception. I feel if one is abitious and wants something, there will be stress associated with it, be it US or india or anywhere else in the world. Basic needs are easily fulfilled in developed countries that in developing countries like India.
So, I totally disagree with the title of this thread.

So eventually, the moral of your essay is, its an individual perspective. Some people would be happy w/o GC and some may crib every after GC.
