Apparently he did for saving tax. Still he needed the US citizenship for living and starting and developing his company. When he earned millions if not billions he does not need citizenship. When you have too much money you will get all you want. Persons are coming to USA primarily for money, quality of life and career. If you get all in other place why do you need to come. So it is not bold move. It is opportunistic if he did for saving tax. He did not mention whether he liked or disliked the US policy. If he would have started the company in Singapore and brought it like now that would have been bold move. Still they are bringing the bill to prevent a person renouncing US citizenship for saving tax.
US Senators will act quickly if US or US companies are impacted by EB3 issue. Companies can make the persons stay in same job for years to decades by filing Eb3 green card. That works in their way. It is unfair for the persons. But it is profitable for Indian consulting companies and also big companies like IBM,oracle. Impact is felt bad only by India and other countries it is not that much bad(If HR 3012 is passed then different situation). Looks like things are moving in right direction by seeing HR3012, STEM etc but very slowly as the impact is more for persons than for country. If H1b cap would have been filled in a few hours then there might be lot of pressure to increase H1B. So just one person renouncing citizenship will not have any impact.

I liked his BOLD decision. We all come here and assume getting the GC and then the citizenship is the final destination. No one thinks what next after becoming citizenship or will it help or change our life in anyway once we become the citizenship... yes... we all know, we get US passport and the opportunity to vote !!!.
US Senators and Congressmen have come up with different schemes where they offer citizenship(EB5 category) for investors / businessmen etc. This worked in the past !!.
Now, the WORLD if FLAT. The Congressmen and Senators have to realise that the the person who has knowledge and talent can succeeed anywhere. He does not have to wait / struggle maintaining his H-1B visa for 10 - 15 years(mainly eb3 category) to get a GC.
I felt his bold decision is fitting answer to all the US Senators / Congressmen about the future IT profesionals answer who strive forward with their skill set than the eagerness to retain the US citizenship.
Its time for US politicians to treat the skilled immigrants with RESPECT who have maintained their status and done their little share of contribution for the betterment of this country.
Guy, What you all think of his decision ? Did he do the right move ?
