September 18 Rally: Updates and what you should know
This is a historic rally and happening for the first time by High-skilled immigrants in DC. Don’t forget to tell your children and grandchildren that you were part of a movement that brought about a major change in the high-skilled legal immigration system in this country. Please get in touch with others from your state or nearby states on various threads on this forum and car pool or come on some buses we are arranging. There are plans to help you get skymiles or other members are ready to help you by providing you accommodation in their homes in DC area. Please see relevant threads and connect with the people organizing that action item. Immigration voice will help you in whatever way possible to ensure that this rally is a success. All you need to do is just show up. Here is some information on our Rally planning. You can plan your schedule accordingly. Sept 15, 16 (Saturday and Sunday) If you arrive on Saturday or Sunday in DC and wish to help, we will need lot of help in giving final touches to the rally work. The work ranges from banner and poster preparation to taking charge of some rally day coordination work like being a marshal for the rally. Nixstor is coordinating this effort in DC. If you wish to help, contact him with your name, phone number, email and when you are coming. Get more details from http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/sh...ad.php?t=12587 (IV DC Area chapter meet up in Mclean, VA on 08/25/07) Sept 17, Monday - LOBBY DAY. Sept 17 is the official lobby day for Immigrationvoice. However, if you are not available on 17th, then the 18th afternoon or 19th would also be fine for you to meet your congressman/congresswoman and senators. Depending on your convenience and availability during these 3 days, we would like to help you setup an appointment with your congressional representatives in House and Senate. Please email us your details at lobbyday@immigrationvoice.org and one of our volunteers would setup an appointment for you. PLEASE DO NOT POST YOUR DETAILS TO MEET THE LAWMAKERs HERE ON FORUMS AND THREADS. WE WANT TO BE ORGANIZED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE AND WE CANNOT COLLECT INFORMATION FROM DIFFERENT THREADS AND FORUMS POSTS. SO PLEASE SEND US EMAIL to lobbyday@Immigrationvoice.org with information described below. We would prefer to arrange meetings and centralize this process so that we can avoid redundant meetings and also have IV members go to different offices in same proportion. Please email these 6 items about yourself as follows to lobbyday@immigrationvoice.org 1). Name (First name and last name). 2). Total Number of individuals with you including yourself. 3). Zip code of your residence. 4). State you live in. 5). Phone number (preferably cell-phone so that you can be reached on lobby day if needed). 6). Date/time preference for the meeting based on your availability and travel plans. Choose between 17th, 18th afternoon and 19th. Once we get a meeting arranged for you, we will email you back with meeting details as well as direction on lawmaker meetings and drop-off material that would help you make the case for skilled legal immigration reform. Please proactively email us your details as soon as possible so that we can get this arranged for you on time. Please note that no anonymous members can be helped in this action item. We will verify your information by calling you before we set up appointments for you.. Dress for these meetings: It should be either formals or state Tshirts. You can buy these state of residence Tshirts from IV merchandise website- http://www.cafepress.com/immivoice. Please note this is an extremely important action item for the success of our effort.
