Hello

I will be completing my 6 years of H1B stay including the captured days out of US in April of 2011. My employer is preparing PERM and will be filing in Aug 2010. Is there any chance that i can get an extension to stay in US.
What are the requirements to apply for an extension. Any help would be much appreciated..

thanks
Nilesh

AFAIK, either your PERM has to be pending for 365 days (won't happen in your case) or you should have an approved I-140 (is possible with premium processing), for your h1b to be extended beyond the 6 year limit. There may be other options such as temporarily converting to a different status (e.g. h4 dependent of spouse) that may be applicable.
