My employer recently filed my PERM. When I checked the website for processing times, it says "Analyst Reviews August 2011". Why is PERM taking so long? I thought it should take about 45 days max.

The DOL website for processing times typically lags behind the actual processing times by a month or two. Search the Web for discussion forums and/or trackers where folks post their actual experiences. That will give you a more realistic idea of the actual processing time. I believe right now PERM applications are taking 60-90 days to be approved for straightforwards, non-audit cases.

There were PERM prevailing wage determination issues from August - October of this year. Probably that has an impact on the PERM processing as well. Regardless there are no guarantees that PERM will take only 45 days. It can take anything from few days to several months.

sparky_jones, thanks for your input. Can you point me to some trackers?

aadohio, yes I am aware there were some PWD issues. But I thought they were resolved a while back and that DoL had started their regular processing schedule.

Google "PERM Tracker", go with the first search result.
