Congress will not realize the importance of EB immigration until all of the s/w jobs are outsourced as manufacturing jobs...

or if some future entreprener gets so disgusted with this process and leaves the US and starts a world class company in another country la google

That will cause eyes to open of all the anti-immigration lobby and uscis/dos

I don't know why they keep whining about bringing more H1s when they cannot provide for the ones already here? Even a layman would agree that more H1s without corresponding legislations to fix broken GC system would add fuel to the fire.

Or is it what someone in this forum suggested - they want to bring cheaper younger people to replace the old ones after 6 years?

They (USCIS/DOS) want us to go back to our home country after gaining 6 years of experience so that we can compete with them directly.

MSFT is the start. This will go on and you can start seeing other companies moving out - jobs also moving out to other countries.

Folks in Alipac are enjoying this news - they say such a thing is good for the country because Indians and Chinese won't come here anymore

They seem to be a bunch of chaotic confused folks and don't know what they want.

Whatever the conditions put for immigration number of people to work in USA is increasing. Yearly there is 20 to 30% increase in F1 Visa for past 3 years . And 130k H1b applications also tells the story. Still USA is topmost market for India and China. USA depends on India and China. But opposite also true(India and China dependent on USA). The change of equation unlikely for many decades. Many European countries and Gulf countries are giving temporary visa and no green card. Still huge demand for working in those countries. Immigration is USA is for mutual benefit not just for country but also for immigrants. If dollar value goes down 20 rupees then outsourced jobs will come back to USA and Indian economy also will crash. So ,for developing countries welfare USA economy should be stable

add72 is correct, the indian economy is not dependent on the IT outsourcing business any more.
If you research more you will find that Tata steel is currently one of the largest steel makers in the world after acquiring corus.
Infosys might aquire capgemini/ernst and young soon making it to compete directly with IBM and EDS for high level consulting business
Chrysler might be sold to tata motors
etc etc
Earlier goverment policy was inhibiting indian businesses in india as well as globally
Now the policy is changing and indian business are thriving both at home and internationally.
They are looking to hire the top talent paying top money.

Thats why its in the indian govt's interest that the GC / immigration process is skewed up here :) so that its best people come back and paricipate in the economy back home
