Default All I485 filing/EAD filing/AP filing questions here

I am starting this thread to get familiarized with the 485 process.

My Labor is approved, 140 is also approved.

My PD is not current, so I can not file 485.

Now before I file 485, what are the things to do and when?

With little knowledge I have, we need to do the following:

1. Finger Printing
2. Medicals

What else needs to be done. Anyone who already applied 485, can sugguest what are in our hands to do before filing 485.

Thanks in advance.

The USCIS will send you a summons for your fingerprints. You will have to go to wherever they mandate. The fingerprints only have a fifteen month validity.

The medical exams are usually a two day event. One day to do the exams and then they write up the report when they get your blood work results from the lab.

While you are waiting you can work on developing the patience of Job.

Default Vaccination may take more than few days

Here are the list of Vaccinations that I was told to get. I had most of them already, some as a child and some when I came to school here.

Influenza Type B
Mumps
Polio
Tetanus and Diphtheria Toxoids
Measles
Pertussis
Rubella
Hepatitis B

Most of these can be done in couple of days but the Hepatitis B takes about six months. There are 3 shots which needs to be spread out to six months. If you need this one, then this is the time to do it.

Default I want to be germs free too.

So that is one more difference between 485-already-applied vs waiting-for-485-filing. Those lucky chaps are germs free. I am not...I want to be. SKIL Bill has this clause implicitly.

Thumbs up what is the cost asscociated to this?

Can we get all these in any hospital or clinic or it has to be by the ones approved by USCIS? What is the cost associated to this? The health insurance will cover these?

so does all this needs to be done before we file I485, even though the visa dates are not avaialable. I am assuming all this happens when you have filed for 485 correct?

Default any hospitals or clinic would do

You can take these at any Hospitals or Clinic. They are quiet costly but my insurance covered them 100%.

From my understanding you need all these completed to be able to file I485, when ever that may be.......

You must arrange a Birth Certificate from your country if you do not have one. Sometime it could take a while.

Default MOVE after I-485 Filing

Hi Folks,

My PD got current at today's Visa Bulletin. Presently I live in SF City, California but we are in the process of move from California to Texas. We will be finally move to TX during Sept-2007. My questions are:

1. Can we move from CA to TX after I-485/EAD/AP is filed from California?

2. We do have a PO address is Texas now and have an apartment in CA for next 5 months.
Do you recommend to use the Texas PO Box address instead of California Apartment address for USCIS I-485 application such that we can avoid the Change of Address with USCIS later?

3. What are RISKS of moving from state to state during I-485 process? Did anyone do that in this forum?

Please advise - thanks

Default is it possible to file 485? ( during priority date transfer from a to B) )

1.I got labor and 140 approved under EB3( Company A)
2.Through different company(Company B) perm labor applied under eb2 and approved and 140 applied ( still pending)
3. used portability of priority date but 140 still pending( eb3 to eb2)

Now my priority date is current under eb2 but my 140 is pending through company B ( porting PD from company A)
is it possible to apply 485 through company B? even 140 not approved
thanks for your help.

Default Original or Copy for I 485 filing

For filing I 485 I know you need to submit birth certificate and marriage certificate. Do both of these have to be originals or copies are fine ?

Thanks

1. Can we move from CA to TX after I-485/EAD/AP is filed from California?

You can move but are you changing employment? If yes, AC21 kicks in only after 180 days after filing 485, assuming 140 is approved.

2. We do have a PO address is Texas now and have an apartment in CA for next 5 months.
Do you recommend to use the Texas PO Box address instead of California Apartment address for USCIS I-485 application such that we can avoid the Change of Address with USCIS later?

Check with lawyer, you can change the address later. But I think your move is too soon, so again check with lawyer.

3. What are RISKS of moving from state to state during I-485 process? Did anyone do that in this forum?

People have done this before but again check with lawyer, your move seems to be too soon

Thanks - i am not changing the company/job after I file I-485 and after i move from CA to TX.

Did Address Change work for anyone after I-485 is filed and state to state move?

my lawyer/para-legal said it is bit risky but possible.

Any feedback and thoughts?
