Default EAD and Driving License

Recently I got a project. When I visited the middle vendor he asked me copies of EAD and DL(Driv LIcense).

I know it is not mandatory to give DL.But wonder is it something i need to bother about?

When asked why middle vendor needs my DL, he said that its just a copy of inofrmation to keep in file and not to worry about it.

Any idea?Is it ok to give DL copy?

thanks

Did you check with your employer before giving photocopies of EAD and DL? They would know the requirements of middle vendor and why these documents are needed?

If someone asks documents are for record keeping, I would ask -
written request and purpose of such documents
for my record keeping.

Remember - There is no such thing as "just for formality".

Refer him to your employer if he wants your immigration status verified (your employer can give copy of the I-9, if he/she wishes). Read the below link regarding privacy before giving the copy of your DL.

This is my guess. EAD is required to check your work autorization. DL is required for background check. Most end clients mandate a back ground check and drug test before getting a consultant onboard. For this they have authorized private investigation agencies and I think they need your DL and SSN to perform this along with your consent signature. But you can definately ask the vendor reasons for any document / signature. It is your right as well as obligation to understand all these things.
