Default OPT for PhD drop outs

I completed my Masters from India and moved to the US for my PhD. I have been in the program for 3.5 years and planning to drop out. My advisor suggested me to switch to MS. My question is will I be able to use my OPT if I switch to MS? I completed my course works (the requirements for MS) 2 years back.

I don't see a reason why you wouldn't get OPT, as far as I know you will get one OPT for each level of education completed. i.e 1 for bachelors, 1 for masters and 1 for PHd. Talk to your schools International students office to get a definite answer as they may have additional rules.
