Royal Enfield motorcycles have been around (in this country) for quite some time. I guess the difference here is that these are being imported from India.

The shifter is on the left side and the rear brake pedal is on the right, unlike the Enfields I am used to seeing and riding.

I hope the build quality is better than it used to be, if it is to compete with what is currently available in that price range.

Don't we have TATA owned car already in USA? At a recent test by edmunds, it beat the Beemer and Benz and Audi

Audi A6 4.2 vs. BMW 550i vs. Jaguar XF Supercharged vs. Mercedes-Benz E550

1st Place: Jaguar XF Supercharged

This is no fluke. The Jaguar XF beat the 2nd-place BMW 550i by nearly 11 points. Whether it was overall performance, features, price or our editors' own recommendations, the Jaguar came out on top. Here's why.

Default It's British

Royal Enfield - what part of ROYAL don't you get????? It's British - some parts may be made in India, just like garments exported from India. No big deal. Plus, this will never sell unless it is priced at 1K coz it is as powerful as a US made moped. Wonder if it will be legal on Freeways.

Is there any way of chucking out trolls and weeds from this forum forever?
What part of "Useless fellow" don't you get fake VivekAhuja?

For chronic constipated idiots like you, here is a good start.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_Enfield

Now save your 'Vivek' for something else, that is if you understand what that means!

Ah, a classic 'VivekAhuja' remark. Let me ask you, Did you read the NYTimes article...before posting your -Ve remarks???

"The claimed top speed of 82 miles an hour will not keep the C5 in the lead dog position for long, even in a pack of 250 cc Kawasaki Ninjas. However, a design requirement was for all-day cruising at 70 m.p.h. That’s higher than the speed limit in much of the United States, and should not overly tax machine or rider.

Kevin Mahoney, the importer of Royal Enfield for the United States, said that the fuel economy of the UCE engine, over 80 miles a gallon in early tests, will be a pleasant surprise.

Royal Enfields equipped with the UCE are being backed with a two-year unlimited mileage warranty in the United States.

India has since become an automotive parts powerhouse. Local sourcing has helped Royal Enfield to remain competitive, and the domestic material content of the C5 exceeds 90 percent. With the Bullet Classic C5, the Royal Enfield designers have succeeded in building on the Bullet heritage and in their interpretation of retro-classic British style."

Your sorry ass is burning with rage when you are seeing Indians companies enter USA. Where were you when US companies were entering Indian Markets.

What part of globalization don't you understand?

Your pride GM and Cryister is dead. Got it. More will follow if USA has aholes like you and restricts best and the brightest to come and save this country. You will not even get your social security if this country denies us our citizenship. We are paying for the bankrupt social security to feed the unemployed, poor and aged of USA.

Get your Reading Glasses first....

In 1955 Enfield of India started assembling Bullet motorcycles under licence from UK components, and by 1962 were manufacturing complete bikes. The original Redditch, Worcestershire based company dissolved in 1971, but Enfield of India, based in Chennai, continued, and bought the rights to the Royal Enfield name in 1995.

but fake "VivekAhuja"s never get it and never will. And that is the sad part about what this great country has become.

No need to try to be reasonable with anti immigrants. They are good for nothing folks who cannot do anything good in life. That is why they were kicked out of jobs. They blame immigrants for all their life problems but fail to look at themselves. Vivekahuja dude, if you do not have a job, go learn some new skills and upgrade yourself. If not then immigrate back to your original country in Europe. Maybe those folks will tolerate you. We are well on our way to become citizens of this country and will vote NO for racists and bigoted people like you.

Bullet was available in Northern California and they were directly imported by some local mechanic here. Also Bajaj scooters are available here too. I was pleasantly surprised to see a Bajaj parked at my local grocery store. I later found out that Bajaj has a dealership in San Francisco.
