Default US to India via London (British Airways) - EAD/AP

I am in AOS, have valid EAD/AP, hold Indian passport.

I am planning to fly from US to India with a stop over at London for 3-4 days on my way. Looking at British Airways. Return journey to US from India will be via London but no stop over.

My understanding is I will need Tourist visa for UK because of the stop over plan, but I am not sure if I need to get a Transit visa (for my return journey). Could someone with similar experience help please? Thank you.
