Default Life Insurance Policy

Hey Guys- Found something very weard. Called up SBLI for life insurance policy. They won't issue you a policy if u are not a US Citizen or Green card holder. Has someone seen this before ? To me this does not make any sense.

Never heard about that before. Have you tried others? Also even if they issue a policy you might want to check about the difficulties involved when the beneficiary who might be located in a foreign country tries to claim the benfits. Policy might seem attractive but at the time of claiming the beneficiary could have to strugle? Just a thought.

I went through a Insure.com broker, who applied for my Life insurance with SBLI and they rejected my application because I am not a US Citizen or Green card holder.

Default Its their loss

Their are plenty of other good life insurance companies ready and willing to provide life insurance even if you don't have a GC. If SBLI does not do it , its their loss .

Try some other reputed company. There are so many of them. Just see the New York Life ad on all the Indian Channels . I don't think they would be advertising so much if they didn't give it to non-GC Indians. Also Metlife and others advertise quite a lot on Indian channels.

I also encountered the same thing from SBLI. I checked with NY life, but they are expensive...For example, SBLI quoted 42/month and NY life quoted 72/month...Not even close...(I do understand that the quotes are tentative pending further scrutiny of application...)...

Farm Bureau ratings are Ok, but SBLI and NY life ratings are good...Well, I am in the hunt again...

Gurus, if someone finds some info about insurance, please post the info...

Thanx

Default My term life insurance experience...

I was in the same situation. I am on H1B and have EAD. I just got my 20 years Term Life from Guardian. I highly recommend "Petrone Associates". Even Guardian gave tough time but Victor at Petrone Associates told Guardian that I have EAD and got it done.

I highly recommend "Petrone Associates" and ask for Victor. Very friendly guy not push and he dosen't try to sell you crap. Very professional.

Last Month got a reasonable policy with Newyork Life. The reason I paid some extra bucks is because the stability and better dividend. If you want good rate without Medical, try HSBC Term Life.

Good luck.

Default term insuarance only

I tried this year with State Farm. They offer only Term Insurance for H1B holders and with max coverage of 125k. No Life Insurance!!

Agent told me even if you get the Life Insurance its not worth as dependents will get benefited due to some clause.

Once you get your Green card the Term Insurance can be converted into Life Insurance.

Most companies don't give policies to non US Citizens or Green Card holders, however there are good reputed companies that do offer. If you are interested, you can reach me. I work for a broker dealer and have helped a lot of people on H1 to get Life insurance and protect themselves.
