Forum Threads & Flamewars On Topics Not On IV's Agenda
We have a lot to get done in the upcoming weeks and months. Those of you who were around during the S. 1932 Budget Reconciliation debate are well aware of the fact that the gains we made in the Senate were lost in the behind closed doors conference committee with the house.
Now again, we have the support of a broad bipartisan group of Senators. Once again we are heading into a conference committee that promises to be very contentious.
We know that many of you are anxious and stressed about the eventual outcome. However, don't let anxiety get the better of you in during this time -- we urge you not to vent your frustration by starting or participating in flamewars on these forums.
We have a lot to do during this time to convince House members of the need to preserve Title V provisions and most importantly that they MUST pass a comprehensive immigration bill -- that passing no bill is not an option. That is where our energy needs to be focused. In a positive, constructive direction.
Before you post on the forum ask yourself if your post
(a) will help IV's agenda OR
(b) help answer another member's question WITHOUT inflaming passions.
If it does not we urge you to not submit that post.
We have over 4,300 members now and amongst them are the inevitable trolls -- people who have never supported us and are only looking to start flamewars. If you do see an inflammatory post, if you find yourself angry, resist the urge to respond and simply alert the moderators by clicking on the exclamation point (in a red triangle) on the upper right of the post you find problematic.
There is no shortage of forums where you can express yourself, for example, Immigration Portal -- if you absolutely must say whatever is on your mind, feel free to post elsewhere. Take your philosophical discussions on whether to legalize, how to legalize etc to other forums. Just remember that there won't be any provisions to help EB workers if there is no comprehensive immigration bill.
The original intent of these forums was exclusively to discuss our agenda and strategy in a positive constructive way -- we expanded our forums at the request of our members. However, we do not want these forums to divert us from our prime purpose, and we do not intend to let that happen.
IV forums have no room for posts that denigrate other immigrant groups or individuals and create an environment of hostility and negativity.
Please respect these guidelines so that we can all focus on what is important.
