Default Jobdestruction.com - Shocking Post

I just received an email from this guy who runs the website jobdestruction.com. I wanted to reply and abuse him, but probably the new Gandhi in me subdued my efforts.

His comments on Indian woman and India being a backward country stings my heart. Just wanted a release and posting it you all.

News@jobdestruction.info" to me
show details 5:29 pm (1 hour ago)

<<<<< JOB DESTRUCTION NEWSLETTER No. 1730 -- 7/18/2007 >>>>>

In the recent newsletter titled "H-1Bs take to the streets to protest" I
discussed a protest that was carried out by a bunch of angry H-1Bs in San
Jose. That story is only the tip of the iceberg however -- H-1Bs and some
large law firms are filing a barrage of lawsuits over the same issue.

In summary, the State Department announced that new applications for green
cards would be accepted in early July, but soon afterwards the USCIS
announced that they would no longer accept applications for green cards.
The USCIS rejected the applications saying the yearly limit of 140,000
employment-based green cards been met. It's tough to say what is really
going on, but one thing for sure is that there is a huge backlog of visas
waiting to be approved.

Nothing in the articles I have seen mentioned security delays for
background checks, but that is one of the factors causing the backlogs. I
discussed that problem in detail in "Terrorist doctors, No. 1724 --
7/07/2007".

There are at least two lawsuits being filed. One is by Gabriela Ptasinska,
an H-1B from Poland, and the other is a class action lawsuit that is being
funded by the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA).

These protests and law suits are much to do about nothing. The H-1Bs that
are here aren't going to be deported if there are delays getting their
green cards. H-1B visa holders can stay in the U.S. as long as they need to
if they have filed for a green card. That provision was instituted by
President Bush and is called the "7th Year Extension".

H-1Bs are mad as hell, but only because they don't want to wait a few more
months for their green cards. There are other reasons to, like for instance
getting green cards allows family members to get jobs. Remember that
families of H-1Bs often can't get authorization to work in the U.S. Of
course that means more workers will be dumped into our labor market.

Elayedath scrambled to arrange the necessary medical exams, get his
parents and in-laws in India to FedEx documents and work with his
attorney to fill out mounds of paperwork. Getting his green card
meant his wife could finally get a job, he said, and they would
have some security in deciding such matters as whether to start
a family.

Don't get confused by thinking this is some kind of women's rights issue.
Most Indian wives must give their paychecks to their husbands. Handing out
green cards isn't going to help to liberate women that are brought here as
wives from backwards countries like India. Read this for more info:

When I was a kid, I grew up reading Indrajal comics - remember the Phantom, Mandrake, Bahadur, Lothar, etc. There are some quotes from those comics, silly as it is, that I still remember. One is (borrowed from a Bahadur episode) that says "When dogs bark the caravan passes unharmed".

Somehow find this situation very fitting

Default Hilarious... ignore and chill out!

If you really want to respond, say that before you came to this country your wife handed over all her paychecks to you. After you came, you saw that most husbands must hand over their paycheques to their wives

Just kidding... ignore this chap.
Jobdestruction (BTW, what a name, what's exactly his mission statement??), Lou Dobbs, Alipac, NumbersUSA... how many people do we worry about? And why should we? They should be worried now that IV has clinched this superb victory!

Default Western stereotyping of Eastern culture

From link-
Quote:
In many cases working wives aren't allowed to keep what they earn so they are unlikely to be able to afford to be self sufficient. The United States will bear the brunt of the social and financial costs if these women need housing and welfare after they leave their husbands. According to a series of studies carried out by the Washington-based International Center for Research on Women in collaboration with independent Indian researchers: [6]
Indian women have always been stereotyped. So this is nothing new.My poor Dad-Mom never gave him paycheque to him, in fact, Dad was obliged to hand over his paycheck to Mom too. (I am from India)
I was surprised when I came to know that here husbands don't hand over their cheques to wives. Who else can run a household in better way ,

Why can't we focus on our goals instead of distracted by these petty things ?

Thanks Friends.

The reason I subsribed to jobdestruction.com was to get some really good updates - this moron used to research and inform every little thing about the most novel issues with a bill / amendment, every immigration lobby in the congress and was in a way helping me build my knowledgebase . I found this a bit too much to digest though.

Also, there is a lesson here. Most of these anti-immigration groups focus their energy on what they don't want - and they keep creating what they don't want. And they should actually learn something from Gandhigiri, focus on what you want, explain your case patiently, create a critical mass and desist from violence and abuse. (Actually, its the mindset here to be anti-everything. Fight against Terror, instead of being FOR peace, Fight against drugs, Fights against guns, Fight against Weapons of Mass Destruction .. the list goes on)

Women in India are backward??? How about this.....the leader of the ruling party in India is a woman. The future president of India is a woman. The prime minister with longest duration in the office was a woman (Indira Gandhi). Top boss at Pepsi is an Indian woman. The female astronut, who created history recently, is a woman of Indian origin. And now we say that Indian women are backward??? This great land is yet to see a lady President. Can somebody reply to this tunnel-visioned imbecile moron, educating him a little about Indian women?

president (who - sonia) naw.. unless i am missing your point

The point you are missing is that every women in India had been liberated and forward thinking for 100s's of years. The proof of which is in how we respect women in India in general.

I dont see that kind of respect and equality for women even today in US.
