Default Senators on Citizenship Delays: What About EB Greencards?

So Kennedy, Schumer and Leahy have fired off a letter asking for details and data on the plan to process citizenship applications. See http://kennedy.senate.gov/newsroom/p...7-d79d648d8f7d

CIS has hired some staff to deal with this, but not enough. Guess where the rest of the staff to respond to this pressure are going to come from? Esp in time for the November election?

Where is the letter for pending greencard applications? What are the odds that CIS will issue 140K EB greencards in FY 2008?

What do you think we as a community should do in response? Sit and watch? Wait?

Is that a rhetorical question or do you have a plan in mind?

Cough.

http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/sh...ad.php?t=18006 (Prevent Visa Wastage Early: Bay Area -- Call Zoe Lofgren)

Apparently my method wasn't the right method....

I do want to know whether IV members think this situation is worrying enough to act. Perhaps it is time for another poll -- should we prod some congresspeople to ensure that CIS will issue 140K greencards in FY 2008? Yes or No. Or should we weep when we find out they didn't yet again.

Whatever the method used:

This is a SIMPLE, entirely non-controversial, in fact congressionally mandated thing we are asking them to ensure. Wouldn't it be great to get a letter from this troika on our behalf? How are our contacts in their offices doing? Would Mr. Gonzalez's sucessor or Michael Aytes benefit from some loving floral attention again?

Here is something interesting we could do. Let's plan on contacting these 3 Senators and see what their response is. If they REALLY care, they will fire off a letter asking for details on GC Backlog too.. What does IV think??

Great idea. Please do work with your state chapter and get a meeting scheduled with the 3 senators and explain to them the issues in person. This has more productive than sending a letter.
