Hi, I just called up the CA senators. This was my first time. (Sorry!) I will call again tomorrow! Requested couple of my friends to make the call as well.

The tone of the people who spoke seemed to suggest heavy volume ("Oh no, here is another one.. "). Hope all collective effort translates into something tangible.

Know the bills he sponsored his initiatives in your state, local issues etc. if not, then we are a failure. We want to be part of the country and trying to do advocacy and not knowing our local lawmakers till now. It is something we cannot forgive ourselves for) have hopes from him.... Then come to HR3012. The problem is some of us cannot express ourselves well. We cannot speak properly, have a heavy accent, or just pick up the phone speak 2 sentences and are in a hurry to finish the call and be done with action item. If there is so much hurry, then we should not call and participate in actiIonitem.

I have been on a side listening in one of the call for other reason and can fully relate to the reaction some of us maybe getting. We all need to get better with communication skills.

Yesterday it was fine, but today after 15 mnts wait, the person picked up the call, is in totally hurry to put it down. He is like - ok ok i will let senator know. Ok. Fine. Ok. Fine." easy... i think the ppl lifting phones are neither senators, nor his/her aids... they might be in a mood to go some where... lets get the message try again after some time if the same person or different person different message...

Done AI again today for NJ Senators. They both asked me if I was calling for HR 3012 and I said yes. One of them took my name and zip code and the other only zip code. They both said that they will pass on the support message to the Senators.

Keep it going guys. We are just about there. I can see that the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter, shinier and the land is becoming GREENER

Hey..smartypants (PAPPU)....
people followed what you/other admin said in the first quote...and most of us know how to talk...I agree with GCTorture...conversation normally goes how the other end is responding.....don't really need to say that you like the senetor...they know that you are sucking up for this bill...even we all know that..

It also means we are giving them more work than they are used to!!..LOL

It can also mean that they are feeling the pressure of calls and we are offloading some of our frustration to them!! -- cheer up and its good to hear that

Point 1- it may not be something you have done, but someone else before you did not communicate properly and thus you got such comment trying to get monkey off the back when you called.

I am also learning everyday. Nobody is perfect. But one must be open to learning new things. The problem is some of us have bloated egos and it hurts very easily on forums. But we are meek and weak when it really matters to speak up against injustice and unfairness. How many of us speak up when the lawyer or employer screws us? How many of us even dare say anything when they get 221G slip or they get a driver liscence refused or when someone at the window speaks rudely to them? But on forums we are quick to feel hurt when some annonymius guy says someone thing against another annonymous guy. One of the big advantage of immigration voice is to raise awareness and help each other educate in the advocacy process. On other forums you can see people fighting each other and bringing people down. Each claims to be a graduate of IIT or MbA but they try their best to show how superior they are and deserving they are. This is not one of those forums and we have a goal. Check egos outside when you do action items. If any of us takes part in action items with egos it will fail terribly. We cannot be looking like spoilt rich kids calling offices. Pappu Dude, where in these AI instructions admin tells you to say you like the senator? Admin gave us only 3 lines and that's what we all have been following. I guess you and admin need to be on same page before you change the instructions, as what you are suggesting would definitely take around 3-5 mins per call.
