I think it means they agreed to stop the debate and move to the vote, it doesn't mean it has passed yet

What happens if they don't vote... 85% are... I read somewhere that you need to have more that 77... I may be wrong before people start bashing on me...

Default Guys, Please read the news properly

Guys, Please read the news properly before you comment.

Senate votes 82-15 to move forward with immigration bill : which say, the bill will be taken up in the Senate floor for further discussions.

Its a process to start debating on the Bill, if the there is not enough support, the bill wouldn't even come to the floor for debate. so its a good and important step forward for the Senate Bill. 82-15 votes to initiate debate means, Most senators, eager to work on the bill

while its a very important step in the right direction, its not time to celebrate yet !

Lets do our smaller part to make sure, all the provisions favoring High Skilled immigration is there in the bill until the final passage of the bill.

Here is the document that explains how a bill becomes law. We've just entered step 2 on page 2 of that document. The road traversed to this point has been long, but the road ahead is longer and trickier.

Default You have a Fair question

ashutrip,
You have a valid and Fair question . This was included in Hatch Amendment #8. And we hope the country cap removal is made effective immediately after passing the bill.(Oct. 1, 2013). Thanks for raising this fair question.

Oct 1, 2013 is also 2014 as per USCIS year.

It does not really matter if the country limit is removed in 2013 or 2015. There are many other sections that are very good. The combined effect will make significant help than just one country limit. Let us not get hung up on one and get the bill passed instead from Senate. Extra good amendments can also be put in House and even later in Conference.

Default Visa Recapture should also made effective immediately

Thanks for your answer but there is one more provision which will be effective from Oct 2014 as per current bill,& it also needs to be made effective immediately and I am sure, IV must be working on that, as well.
Nobody is hung up but when there is opportunity to introduce amendment during senate debate, we still have chance
For Immediate/ASAP Implementation Of
(1) Country Cap Removal
(2) Visa Recapture

We all have waited long enough for Green cards, Delay of every single day does make difference in our lives - as so many things like from Driver's license to college admission of our children is being impacted without Greencard.
