I used to live in TX few years back, so called the reps of TX last friday in addition to calling the reps of my current state. Almost all of them asked for my postal address. The staffer of Rep. Sam Johnson (REP) TX3 (202) 225-4201 in particular after listening to my request asked me if I am from their district and since I had lived in a different district from theirs in TX, put down the phone abruptly thanking me for calling them. Guess she may have received calls from many people belonging to different districts so seemed curt in her reply. Just wanted to share my experience if it helps you.
I had also lived in CA earlier and called the reps there as well. Coincidently none of them asked for my postal address.

Default More new cosponsors added after the DC event- please keep calling .

IV Community, Thanks for your help and participation, we are adding new cosponsors every day. Official information on the new cosponsors will come from IV admin very soon. Please keep on calling your representatives. If you have previously lived in a different US State or had an address in a different district, use your old address. They just need to know if you're calling from their district. And please remember, follow-up is the key. Call and/or email at least twice a week. As said earlier, 5-10 calls and emails will do the trick.

We can do this for our sake.

I followed up with the offices of NJ congressmen again today. A couple of them asked where I live and seemed annoyed when they found that I do not belong to the exact district the congressman represents. Any pointers on how to avoid this?

if you have friends in their districts, use their address…… if not find out towns (and zip codes) in their districts and say that I live in so and so town, which is in Congressman/Congresswoman's district.

Default Meeting a congressman

Hi All,
I live in NJ and I was wondering if we could just meet the congressmen/women. I tried calling them but I suspect they just don't care. Maybe putting a face to all those calls would help. Does anyone who lives in NJ would like to accompany me ?

4 of our guys just met with Pittenger's office today. Please call his DC office, ask for the immigration policy person and make the following points:

1. Tell them your story and how the backlog affects you. Tell them the backlog affects ordinary Americans as well, because it makes them less competitive in the job market when compared with immigrants with less rights.
2. HR.213, is a bill that will dramatically shorten your wait and will also help Americans by reducing the attractiveness of backlogged immigrants to employers.
3. HR.213 is budget neutral
4. HR.213 adds no new visas even numbers USA took no position with the bill the last time it was passed.
5. in the 112th congress an identical bill HR.3012 passed 389-15.
6. Influential republicans like Cathy McMorris Rogers (chairwoman of the house republican conference) have co-sponsored the bill.
7. IV members visited her DC office last week to ask for co-sponsorship.
8. Constituents visited her district yesterday and asked for the same.
10. you are now calling and humbly request that your rep co-sponsor.

Feel free to take another trip to the office.

Also, PM your info to me, I will pass it on to the other NC guys.
