Default Good job

Good job guys ! That is the way - getting the media attention. The rest will be done by the public opinion. We are fighting for a right cause and Americans are not idiots, they will support it.

But do not forget that this is a small step in a long jurney. It seems to me that some people here in the forum already started dreaming about their GCs. It is too early for that, this little clip shown in the middle of the night is far not enough. The big job just starts...

Just watched the podcast. Please convey my congrats in advance to Siva for their expected baby. I just cannot believe this guy Ron Hira from IEEE, maybe he has forgotten how he or his parents got here

Thumbs down

Ron Hira seems to be very critical about the H1-b program,Outsourcing jobs and immigration in general. He and his brother Anil are in it big time.

He also happens to be the Chair of IEEE-USA.

While the Americans are getting in terms with globalization the well established Indian-Americans here dont seem to get it.

Default Congrats. Just saw the coverage at NBC.com

Last minute production issue didn't let me watch it live at MST 5.30. But enjoyed it. Correct pitch and correct wavelength.

Nice work, Siva and all IV folks! Keep it going strong.

Also, next time wear an IV T-shirt and an IV hat for more publicity.

Default Who is Ron Hira?

Looked like one of us. It was pretty disgusting to hear what he said if he was from an immigrant family as well.

Siva- Great Job.

Smile Great work!

Nice job both Berkeleybee and Siva,

The piece told a great story and we came out of it looking really good. We were compared to the richest and most successful businessmen in the United States - people can get their minds around who the guys who started Intel, Google and Ebay are. I'm really not sure that this is a comparison that we would have been comfortable making ourselves, but now we can cite and quote from this NBC news story.

Ron Hira from IEEE-USA did not do any harm to our case, his quote was placed at the very end of the piece after every other interviewee spoke about how important it is to have highly skilled workers remain in the US. It was very interesting that he didn't quote any statistics to back up his case.
We're moving in the right direction!

He is the author of the forthcoming book to be published in Spring 2005 by AMACOM books, “Outsourcing America: What’s Behind Our National Crisis And How We Can Reclaim American Jobs. "

His contact details are at http://www.rit.edu/~ppolicy/fac_staff/
His book and reviews on the book are at http://btobsearch.barnesandnoble.com...80&TXT=Y&itm=1

I agree with oguinan....Its likely Hira's speech was cut short in the interview, and that's why he doesn't seem to be in favor of temp. work permits, but I am thinking of writing a nice email to him to find out what he intended as the outcome of this TV interview.

We live in a free world, everyone is entitled to their opinion, there's no point bashing anyone up.. Instead, lets channelize our energies to keep our focus on the goals listed by Immig. Voice.

Default IEEE supports PACE act

IEEE supports PACE act though
http://www.ieeeusa.org/communication...6/012406pr.asp

But maybe they support the act sans the legal immigration part

I did request them very specifically to mention IV, but they wanted to keep this as a personal story.

Actually IEEE is only against the H1-B program but they have gone on record supporting quick processing of Green Cards. Their rationale is that once we get our Green Cards, we become free agents and hence do not depress the wages.
