Regarding Cantwell:

The represintitve said they recieved couple of calls. I explained my view and how as an RN i'm effected by this. The office said that sentor Cantwell has not issue a statement. I spoke of USCIS, financail and emotional loss. I did say that hunder of thousands are effected and according to WSJ million of dollars has been lost.
The representitve seems intrested. She transferred me to Olia black voice mail that seems to be taking care of this issue and i left a message for with my contact information.

More people need to call and get thier stories through. After all Cantwell was supportive of skilled workers. So far senators office are responding with interest to personal stories and the effect of the USCIS VB.

is that good enough :D... any other detail needed?

Do you have your 485 approved ? If not, you are not supposed to contribute to any political campaigns. You have to be a GC holder or citizen to contribute to political campaigns. Its illegal otherwise.

CALL your state senators. State senators are interested in listening from people who reside in their respective states, Cause they technically represent them. So they want to hear what affects their constituents.
Call your state senators first, then call your house reps, (remember logfren is a house rep) and then the others.

If you are not aware of campaign finance laws , get in touch with them and make em aware of the mistake you made and you should get your check back if you are not a citizen or PR.

satishku_2000 07-05-2007 07:10 PM

O.K. I got your senator and your state. That is good. I have also played my part and have done that infact yesterday. Thanks. In the process I also learned that , Calling to out of state senators would not be entertained..

As lon as we are playing parts at our state level... that's good enough

I already done that yesterday evening: Today I talked to both offices. Yesterday I just sent web form (E-Mail)... I could not speak to senators personally as both were unavailable but I spoke to their office staff and both have listened me and have guranteed to make sure this reaches to senator's eyes and ears.

Well, I don't know what is happening with my I485. I took my Infopass appointment early morning 7.15 AM on July 2nd. My Priority date became current(PD-11/08/2004). I was quite happy that it became current. Our applications are with San Jose Local Office. We completed our interview on October 2005. At the time of our interview our priority date is not current and no visa number available. The IO said that whenever our PD becomes current they will approve our case and send the mail in card. We moved to San Jose and our case files are transferred from South Portland Maine to San Jose.

Long story short, we went to San Jose office and told the IO that our Priority date became current and he has the VB that has all categories current. He said that he is going to pull the files out of inventory room and send to the IO the same day and he will approve it. We are aware of the fact that VB is going to change. So not sure how to take the information given to us. Will they approve as he said? or will they take it out and wipe the dust off and put it back for dust to collect again. I am disappointed, angry, helplessness. It is just 1 hour work that is all it takes to approve and I am waiting for past 2 years. Anybody in the same boat?? What can i expect from the response. What should i infer - approve or dust collection. Anyways my company is asking me to relocate to Beijing or Mainz so I will consider seriously after consulting with my wife.

Logiclife, I had contributed before for Senator Kerry campaign in 2004 too. I don't think that is wrong is there?

In 1040, we have a checkbox to contribute $3 towards presidential election contribution. If I check that box while in H1B, is that illegal?

Cheers,

Hi :)

Would not be a better idea if we came up of list of sentors/congressmen that we need to call for the day. This way each center office get a certain amount of call volume on the same issue. This might make a difference.

let me know. We just need agroup of volunteer this will organize and target our effeort.

thanks

Hard copies of letters are more powerful than emails. Please continue writing letters because we need sustained efforts. Please also consider asking Ameirican Citizens to send letters from their perspective. See the letter template drafted by my American friends:
__________________________________________________ ______________
NAME AND TITLE OF THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL
ADDRESS

July 9 2007

Dear (TITLE AND LAST NAME):

I am a tax payer and resident of (YOUR STATE). I seek your help in the following matter:

On June 13th, the U.S. Department of State online Visa Bulletin announced availability of a large number of immigration visa, which opens door for legal employment-based immigration applicants to submit their paperwork starting July 1st. On July 2nd, merely 2 weeks later, the Visa Bulletin published by the U.S. Department of State announced that “there will be no further authorizations in response to requests for Employment-based preference immigration application cases”. This drastic change is condemned by American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) as “Bait-and-Switch” policy which “slams the door” in the face of immigration applicants who are following the laws. New York Times called it “immigration malpractice”. This has been a waste of the government’s time and money.

As an American Citizen and a tax-payer, I have worked and lived alongside with many legal immigrants and prospective legal immigrants. They actively contribute to the economy, education, technology, culture, and research in the U.S.

They also respect and obey the laws, even though there are stringent scrutiny and limitation imposed. For example, they wait for years to complete the legal process, during that time, they cannot travel abroad without the serious risk of being denied re-entry. Having committed no crime, they have to notify the government every time they change their place of residence – something that, among American citizens, only convicted felons are required to do. They have spent hundreds, sometimes thousands, of dollars on government-mandated application fees and related costs. They have underwent inordinate amounts of stress making sure their applications were complete and properly filled out in every way, knowing that any error or omission, real or perceived, could get their application automatically rejected. Through it all, they had faith in the system of legal immigration. Now they are being penalized for following the law and for having faith in the system, because the federal government has dealt with them unjustly and deceptively. Such a way of dealing with prospective legal immigrants is sure to deter other highly skilled, intelligent people from wanting to live and work in the US, to the detriment of our country.

I request that you investigate and work to improve the procedures for legal employment-based immigration. Specifically, I strongly urge you to support the highly skilled people who are seeking legal employment-based immigration because they are actively contributing and improving the (YOUR STATE) Community and the greater American Society.

Sincerely,

YOUR NAME AND TITLE
COMPANY/ UNIVERSITY.

Reply from Tom Davis - Congressman for VA

Received this e-mail from Tom Davis (Virginia congressman for where I live) today (Monday, July 9, 2007). Plan to reply by tomorrow mentioning it is not about "individual redress" rather a wrong imposed by USCIS/DOS on the legal-patiently waiting-community of immigrants. Any suggestions welcome.

Dear Mr. <Name>:

My staff is aware of the situation regarding employment-based visa applicants seeking adjustment of status and the most recent announcement by the State Department of the unavailability of visa numbers. At this time, my staff members are reviewing the situation. Individual redress is not possible at this time.

Thank you for contacting me.

Sincerely,

Tom Davis
Member of Congress
