Default ATTN CORE: Why the minimum amount

guys..Could you pls let us know why we have 100 as the minimum amount for contribution...i also noticed that the recurring contribution is 50 instead of the usual 20. Guys dont get me wrong. I wanted to call up my friends and ask them to contribute for IV...but i guess we should let them decide the minimum amount...or atleast have 50 and 20 as the minimum and recurring contrubutions respectively...I myself wanted to sigh up for the recurring contribution...but 50 every month hits me on my face..
Even economics says so..haven't you heard of the Laffer Curve?

CORE plz donot get me wrong...I only wanted to make a point that it wouold be easier for ppl to part with 20 every month than with 50...I am sure more would contribute if we revert back to the 20 per month...i would surely enroll.. plz look in to this

Is it possible to have weekly contributions of $5, $10, $20, etc. Perhaps, then it may not "hit" people on their face. After all, people can think "$5 = one taco bell - I can skip taco today" or something to that effect.
Maybe it would be worthwhile to look into weekly contributions.

Yah..that would be easy on their wallet...ppl who have already been members for quite some wouldnt mind parting with 50 or 100 every month because they trust IV...Having a smaller amount would help increase contributions from the other 99% members who are still sitting on the fence and all the newbie members...
we all know the psycological impact of a .99 ending .....low price appeal rite? similarly 100 would look like a drain on the pocket...plz look in to this

I totally agree with what people have been conveying in this thread.

minimum contribution of 20$ would be a good amount. Core team can give it a thought. I am sure there will be a lot of contributions.

Cant you just set this up in your paypal? I sent $20 to IV by sending it to donations@immigrationvoice.org.

Yup..thats one option...what abt having that option on the site too? If it doesn't involve too much cost for IV why not have it too

Default Think about the CORE team dedication

Hi Pals,
I understand your concerns but think about the core team and other active team members efforts, time and dedication. If someone is working for our group issue , I think we have some moral responsibility to contribute or dedicate our time.

I am a new member to this group but I have signed up for $50 recurring payment( I have contributed $150 till now)

Please think about it.

Good luck for your GCs.

Prasad.

Prasad...a clarification..we aren't talking abt the CORE Team's dedication...i have tremendous respect for them and for what they have accomplished .....All we are saying is there have to be more options on the amount that one can contribute.....so that we can get more members to contribute and thus have more resources to fight our case.....

Thumbs up

I second arrarrgee's point...

$20 per month seems affordable.... I'd sign up immediately apart from my future IV contribution plan (Future IV Contributions !!!!)

I sent a PM to one of the Admin's couple of days ago. Got this reply.

Thanks to you and the core team's efforts.
I just contributed $100. I would like to make recurring contributions, but won't be able to make $50/month. Is there a way to do a $20/month contribution?

Thanks for your contributions.
we discontinued $20/month since it was not enough to do sufficient lobbying efforts

The core team has often times indicated that the 20$ minimum was not enough. While I agree that $20 will be easy on many folks, the $50 is not an affordable one.

Considering the benefits and the fight we are up against, I belive the $50 per month is a very reasonable.

jeevarakkiannan,

All I can say is IV is loosing 1000s of contributors who are ready to contribute $20 per month... On this thread itself, you will find many of us...

1000 * 20 * 12 = $240,000 per year

People who are married and pay for their mortgage, home taxes - $50 is I wouldnt say huge but still something that one will think twice...

Just my opinion... IV core has their own views.. whatever is the case, I'll continue to contribute once in few months...
