Suddenly everyone is out to relieve the poor old neglected 'hi-tech' guy ...wonder if we are being used as a bargaining chip for CIR...

Default H1B quota increase & EB immigrants exemption

This bill proposes H1B quota increase over next couple of years and exemption of advance degree holders from EB immigrant numbers. Helpful for sure if passed.

Default Atleast allow us to apply for 485

It will be helpful if we are allowed to apply for I-485 & EAD, even if the visa numbers are not available. They could atleast throw this bone to us, which will be helpful in not needing H1B and allow us to change jobs. Hope they make this amendment to this Bill.

I know the Core team will already be working on this.

How long does it take to write a bill? Wow.. Immediately after the mad rush for H1, there is a bill out in just 10days to give the relief. Guess the bill must have been written well-ahead anticipating the reality.

Default Advanced degree + 3 years exp in US

Aliens who have advanced degree in science, technology, engineering or math and have been working in a related field in US under a non immigrant visa during the 3 year period preceding their application should be exempt from numerical limits.

Dependents are also exempted. So by itself it is a decent bill. Hope IV can add more amendments to it.

Correct me if I am wrong...but I believe a bill has to pass in both Senate and Congress and signed by President to be enacted into law. Currently the H1/EB bills are only presented in Senate. Any comments?

Default 485 ?

If it had 485 filing provision in it it would been wonderful. Shall we start sending email or call to Senator Chuck Hagel (R-NE) ?? What is IV's take on this ?
