Can you please clarify the terminology being used here.
  1. What do SOFAD, PWMB, NVC notice and OR mean?
  2. What do the terms "Demand Destruction" and "I140 acceleration" mean?
  3. What is consumption being talked about here. Is it monthly consumption, how can it be 18K? Wouldn't it exceed the 140,000 annual limit then?
  4. What does the term EBE mean (used in EBE I/C below)?
  5. Also does EB1 have three categories EB1 A,B,C (I thought it only had "Outstanding Researchers" and "Multinational Managers")?
Also, a couple of quick answers for you -

3. 18K is not monthly consumption and it is the ball park estimate for the whole year.
4. EBE was a typo. It was actually EB2.

I got some answers from the first page of the thread as suggested by vinodindia
SOFAD - Spillover Fall Across and Down
PWMB - People w PD prior to July 07 who missed boat (i.e. 2007 July 485 Boat).

Many congratulations to you and your family. Enjoy the moment. Perhaps justifying your handle the way the NVC notices are coming GC will indeed be available on demand for EB2.

Not that i'm expecting the RFE, but just trying to understand based upon your experience. Do they wait until fingerprints are done and then they start looking/reviewing the file?
Mine was not fingerprint related its EVL + BC. This year have not heard of any FP related RFE's they would just send a new notice to get it done just in case of any problems with the first instance.

Unfortunately post # 1 cannot be updated because this thread is login free now.
You already know PWMB and SOFAD now.
NVC is National visa center they issue notices for those who opt for CP, this has been a great gauge for VB movement. OR is the ratio of expected 485 from perm past data showed that this ratio is 1 now because people had a hard time without EAD / AP its may have come down to 0.75. Consumption is the usage from 01-OC-2011 to till dates for EB2 I/C it should be ~ 18K. EBE is a typo yes it should be EB I/C. EB1 has 2 research based categories A (Self filed) , even other outstanding people can file in this category and B is employer filed, EB1C is multinational manager.

Thanks Teddy for clearing those terms up. Really helps in understanding what is being discussed here.

Also what do the terms "Demand Destruction" and "I-140 Acceleration" mean?

Refer to the following graph
USCIS: National Processing Volumes and Trends

You would find that from May 2011 the I140 backlog reduced significantly, more I140 clearance means more EB1 and EB2 ROW 485's this is what is I140 acceleration.

Demand destruction refers to people going back in 2008 and 2009 because both the job market and labor approvals were a problem. This is the reason why there are lesser people than expected.

TSC servic center
I-485 RD - Jan 9
FP notice date - Jan 25
Fingerprinting date - Feb. 16
No EAD notification or cards yet.

I saw others here with same and even later dates from TSC who have already received EAD/APs? Is a delay in getting EAD/AP cards indicative of anything with I-485 application?

Also, are visa numbers allotted in order of the original priority date, or in order of the I-485application receipt date. For eg. in the case of January filers, will somebody with a PD of Dec'08 but RD of Jan 1 2012 get greened before someone with a PD of April'08 but a RD of Jan 31, 2012?

Thanks.

My RD is Jan 9. Online status shows EAD approved on Feb 2 and AP on 1/26. did not recieve approval notice or Card yet. Attirney says to wait for some more time.

for my family, it was approved on 2/18 and got a mail today USPS has picked up card for delivery.

Thanks Krishnmunn.

By online status, do you mean this site:

https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/Dashboard/CaseStatus.do

Here it shows "Initial review", and I see that "last update was on Jan 18" - no details about what that was about. I created an account and asked to be emailed and texted in case of updates. Is this the place where the info about EAD/AP will be updated or is there another site that I am not aware of?

We completed our FP on 2/16, but have received no communication about EAD/AP, when it seems others with similar dates from TSC have had atleast some updates, if not the cards themselves.
