Default My infopass Experience

Hi,

Today I went for InfoPass appointment for following reasons. Lady officer was very kind and patient.

My Concerns-
1. Status update on I-485
2. Address change confirmation. I made change online but I wanted to confirm if it has flowed into the system correctly.
3. Missing EAD approval notices (received notice of action and EAD card at old address but no approval notice due to address change. Online address change was done on the same day EAD was approved)
4. Different A number on I-485 and I-140 than EAD and AP

Answers -
1. She said your case has been assigned to an officer and you can expect to get approval in 3-4 months (??). She also told me that FBI background check is clear.
2. Address was not updated correctly on my file (still showing old zip) and on my spouseís file it hasnít been updated at all. She made the correction for me and sent email for my husband.
3. She said you have EAD card, don't worry about approval notices
4. She said donít worry about this as well.

Thought of sharing this, some of this information may be helpful to some of you.

The first one - approval in 3 to 4 months - are you current?

Red face Infopass waste of time

The infopass meetings are a total waste of time - I had gone to check why I have not recd my green card as yet eventhough I was approved 2 months ago - she looked up the system (or pretended to look) and said the card has gone for coding and you should be getting it in 2 weeks - after 2 weeks I called only to discoover that the Biometrics have not been uploaded - the infopass folks are not clued in and have no idea of what is going on.

Going for Infpass ia good idea of you do not have anything better to due during the day.

During infopass two weeks ago, IO repeatedly told my daughter's AOS has been approved and is being mailed out and also mine is in record room (he said files land up in record room after decision is made). When I said my on-line status still reads 'recd n pending'. He said 'may be not uploaded on the system'
Follow-up Infopass in this context said 'not yet' you will receive in next 60 days

Default Waste of time...

I had taken an appt on 09/22 and thought some miracle would happen. Guess what, it was waste of time......same message "Take an infopass in 3-4 months if status does not change", I think it is a standard message.

Smile Subjective

It is quite subjective if the InfoPass appointment is useful or not.

If you are looking for information on your case, chances are you will get more than you can glean from the website or by talking to the CSR/IO over the phone at the NSC/TSC.

If you are looking for some action (and hence results) on your case by just making an InfoPass appointment and talking to the person at the USCIS office, you will very likely be disappointed.

My InfoPass appointment revealed the following -
1. FP and NC/BC (same thing) cleared for both my spouse and me. And proactive confirmation that per the 180-day rule, this clearance is not required for 485 approval.
2. Black and white proof of the statement "No more EB-2 visas available for persons born in India and China for the rest of FY2008" - essentially a doucment that looked both official and internal to the USCIS.
3. Only thing that is needed between now and approval - a visa number! The monthly Visa Bulletin should tell me when.

At the least, I know where in the blackhole I am.
