H4 to F1 conversion in the middle of MS program
I am on H4 visa currently and enrolled into MS Taxation program. The program has 10 courses and I have already completed 5. My question is, can I transfer my H4 to F1 at this stage? if yes, will I be eligible for OPT after completion of the program? Is there any risk involved here? If for any reason the my transfer request gets rejected, what will happen to my H4?
University has same fee structure for both residents and international students.
My husband's company has filed for immigration under EB2 and I-140 is approved. Our priority date is Feb, 2012. So, I believe it's a long way to go for EAD.
My H4 visa is expiring in Nov, 2016 but can get further extension.
Any advice here will be greatly appreciated.
You can apply for change of Status at any time.
To be eligible to apply for optional practical training, you must:
(1) have been a full time enrolled student in the U.S. for at least one academic year by the requested start date of your OPT, and
(2) be in F-1 status when you apply.
All the best,
