Default agiridhar

Back in year 2000 to 2003 ,these things were very prevelent, that's how lots of people were in status, nothing surprising.
bottom line there are loop holes in the system, and until some of these loop holes are not closed american people are simply not going to accept the hike in
the H1B visas from 65K to 400K.

thanks

It takes a long time for USCIS to even count the H1B application.

Default AILA H-1B Count Exit Polls

04/03/2007: AILA H-1B Count Exit Polls

AILA has reported that yesterday VSC and CSC received at least 200,000 deliveries, including all different types of cases. There is no information available about how many of these deliveries were for the FY 2008 H-1B cap cases. (Courtesy of AILA)

Well, that answers the question I guess. In my view, I think the regular H1 cap might have been reached yesterday. What makes it worse is that if the cap is indeed up yesterday, then all the cases received today are included in the random selection lottery process thus lowering the probability of selection.....I just wish all the regular H1 filers the very best....

What would have been helpful is knowing how much mail on average VSC and CSC receive every day. That way one can deduce the impact of H1 filings.

Default Itís no longer H1B Visa. It is H1B Lottery.

I donít think it will be any way near 100K. Assuming the average volume is 100k. We still have 100k H1B applications from the weekend and say 30K H1B applications for today (April 3rd). The grand total is whopping 130k.

Itís no longer H1B Visa. It is H1B Lottery.

Default H1B quota

No wonder bill gates was saying that there should be no quota limit on H1B,
I think 400K limit for H1B and for other semi skilled workers, defined in the STRIVE ACT should be able to fix this problem.

thanks

on the funny dilbert side, there are several other spelling mistakes , be my guest, be my ms-word spellchecker and correct my stupid spelling's , by any chance are you a spelling bee contest winner... no offense meant just dilbert stuff.

Okay, whooping 21 responses in a day and 2,272 views. think the adjective in '()' parenthesis is incorrect. I have learnt that most of the messages here are being read by the policy influencers... so feel free to delete this thread.
My dear dear friend - appreciate your quick response - regarding spellings - well - the keywords are whats important - the rest doesnt really matter - afterall the keyboard can contribute to a lot of things, isnt it - your response has been taken in the right *dilbert* spirit - just that the *questions* I raised on your *ethics* and *morals* remain unanswered - but didnt I say - Be your own judge. :-)

Default NewsFlash! Preliminary Unofficial H1B Cap Count as of Apr 2, 2007

There is no official word on how many cap-subject H1B cases were filed under the FY2008 quota and received at the USCIS on the very first day, Monday, April 2, 2007. However, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) has obtained unofficial information from the leading courier services, and sources close to the USCIS. This unofficial information indicates that two service centers for H1B case filings, the California Service Center (CSC) and the Vermont Service Center (VSC), received a total of at least 200,000 pieces of mail on April 2, 2007.

There is no information available yet as to how many of these delivered packets were H1B cap-subject cases filings. There is also no information as to the breakdown of cases that will be counted against the regular H1B cap versus the advanced-degree H1B cap. However, if the 200,000 count is correct, it would only take slightly more than 25 percent of that number to exhaust the regular H1B cap for FY2008 and another 10 percent to reach the cap of 20,000 for advanced-degree exemptions
