Smile ksircar

Thanks a lot! From your post it sounds like yours was a H1-H1. Mine is a fresh stamping for F1-OPT-H1. Correct me if I am wrong but I don't think there is much difference though.

Can you please tell me what documents you carried & what the CO asked for?

Also I never heard of 'experience letter' - is it the same as reference letters from Manager / co-workers. Thank you in advance.

Default Any impact of saying yes to immigrant visa applied on your behalf?

Is there any impact on getting H1/H4 visa stamp if you say yes to immigrant visa applied on your behalf? What if you applied I-485 once from a company and it was withdrawn as you moved to another company, do I need to mention that in my DS156 form?

Thanks for your responses.

H1 is dual-intent visa. It is perfectly legal to file for GC while on H1. Always say the truth on DS156/157 - the CO can see your records on his monitor.

I got my passport stamped (H1B) at Kolkata consulate on April 25th. On the DS156, I mentioned YES. At the interview, the officer asked me "At what stage I am in".

Hope it helps.

Default Stamping in ottawa

Hello Guys

I know that everybody is worried and busy about the new happenings.

My wife would like to stamp her H1B visa in Ottawa Canada.

She came here on H4 and later applied for H1B. She never went back
after she came to USA. Her H1B is never stamped. Now working for
the third comany ( 3rd H1B). Can she do the stamping in Ottawa or does she need to go to our home country?

I found somehwere that if for stamping h1b for FIRST time, one has
to go to home country..

What you guys think?

If you have degrees from the US or Canada you should not have problems. But if you have qualifications from out side of North Ameriaca they may ask you to go back to your country to get the visa.

I have US degrees and have gotten the visa stamped from Canada posts with out any problems.

From what I know and what the website says, people with a Degree from US can goto Canada for stamping, the rest have to goto home country. However I know of some friends who have gone and got their stamping done without meeting this requirement.

Question nat23

Which website says that US univ degrees can get stamped in Canada / Mexico?
I haven't been able to find anything.

I came to US on F1 for Bachelors.
Now F1 => OPT => H1 approved

Can I go to Mexico to get stamped?

Any difference in ease of stamping between Ottawa, Vancouver and Toronto?

Default Successful h1b stamping in ottawa (h4 to h1)

Hi all,

Just wanted to let you know that my wife got the h1b visa stamped in ottawa yesterday only (She had interview yesterday and we got her passport today). She came to usa last year on h4 and then got her h1b. She did her master in telecom engg in london and bachelors in engineering from india.

IO didn't ask anything about eduction but he did asked her for all the paper that the employer had filed for her h1b (129, LCA), paystub and employment letter.

so it's nothing like only US degree holder can go to canand for h1b stamping. There was another couple who got their h1b stamped (studied in australia and india).

And ottawa is cool. i think everybody got h1b visa yesterday. Bottom line is get all the documents required for h1b.

Hope this helps.

You are right there's no restriction of Education in U.S. I have several people at work who have got their Visas stamped in Various locations in Canada and Mexico. And none of them have any US education

Default pls dont make comments when you are not aware

Hello Folks

I am seeing contradicting statements in some of the replies here.
Pls dont make statements when you don't know. It is good if you don't reply when you are not sure.

There is no article that states that one needs to have a masters degree or any of that kind from US for getting a stamping in Ottawa or any other place outside the US. I know a colleague of mine who went to mexico to get her 3 year h1B stamping and was successful.

So guys appreciate if you stop making comments when you have no idea.

Thanks
