Smile May not be required

My wife has travelled in February with AP. The experience is when she called the airlines they said that it is not required. But when she went to the airport they asked her for transit visa when they saw that she is using AP. Eventually they allowed her to board the flight on her most current and valid H1b approval.

I have seen people saying here it is not 100% required but again I feel from the past experience it is a matter of which airport or representative you meet at the airport. Please note that she boarded her flight from IAD(DC airport).

Exclamation not sure but according to this site...

...http://www..com/visas/transit-visa-requirements.html it does seem so.

I'll personally look for airlines that don't go through France/UK/Germany to avoid any issues as I don't plan on applying for a transit visa.

http://www..com/visas/transit-visa-requirements.html says Transit visa reqd for AP holders. Personally I avoid the hassle, fly direct or via middle east.

DO NOT fly Lufthansa at any cost. It is one F ed up airline and Frankfurt is one one F ed up airport. Last week we had a nightmare of having to spend a night at airport because of their stupid union strike.

As far as I know transit visa is not needed. Best bet is to check with the airlines or call the German consulate.

Hi,
I am going to India via Frankfurt. My visa H1B visa expired June 30, 2008. Do I need transit visa? or can I use I797 documents? I am not on AP.

As mentioned by Cheran in the previous post take a look at the following:

German Missions in the United States - Airport Transit

It clearly says in bold letters:

Please note that the advance parole and the approval notice (I-797) are not valid documents for visa free airport transit!
