Default Lost EAD

My current EAD card expires on 11/3/10. I have to file for renewal but can not find my old EAD card. Now should I file for renewal without a copy of last EAD card (in which case it may be rejected due to lack of sufficient informaiton) or file for replacement of lost card. If I file for replacement what period would it cover. Would it be 2 years going forward or two years expiring on 11/3/2010. Any one with information please help.

If you have a copy of the EAD stored somewhere, you can use that and file for the renewal rather than wasting money on the replacement of the lost card. If not, find out from your attorney if you can apply for a new one instead of a replacement. Better yet, post this on the lawyer section so that some one can answer this better than I did.

do you have a copy or not ? if you have a copy it doesnt matter you can file for renewal or talk to an attorney for your options...

Smile Lost ead

I asked this question during conference call last week. Attorney suggested to apply without EAD copy, since that is not with me. And write a nice letter to USCIS about the circumstances and place it in front of application. If you will get query then state the same. It should be good.

(1) File a POLICE report.

(2) Contact HR (or equivalent) at her previous employer and request a copy, if you already don't have one already. Unless her previous employer happens to be composed of a sadistic, un-resonable and horrible people in general, they will give her a copy. I assuming here that they took a copy of her I-765, when they filed her form I-9.
