Default Work full time on H1-B with GC sponsoring employer and part-time on EAD

I am currently on H1-B with same employer who filed for my green card. I have my EAD card and my I-140 is approved and I-485 is filed for more than 6 months now. PD is Nov 2004

Question is, can I take a part time job on EAD card, while continuing full-time on H1-B with my current employer?

Thanka for any input / advices / suggestions

-Ruchi

According to my attorney, no. You will lose your H1B status if you do so.

If he has EAD why is H1B needed then? He can have multiple jobs with EAD? I was planning to do same after getting EAD (someday my dates will get current :-) )

I don't know why he / she needs to be on an H1B. I was just pointing out that he/she wouldn't be on an H1B anymore if he/she used an EAD for a simultaneous different job.

Question

If you are single it is a big advantage to be on H1-B and at the same time have the EAD in your back pocket.

I asked this question earlier and was given a red dot for not searching the forum even when I had clearly mentioned in my post that I had looked at other threads! Go figure..

Anyways, here's one response I got which might be useful for you:
