Default Medical Tests - does location matter

Just got current. Wondering if where you get the medicals by civil surgeon done matter for the I-485 filing? I reside in one state - but work in another. Does it matter at all if I get the tests done in one state or the other?

thanks!

I do not think it matters. I had done it in Boston (where my wife lived) whereas I was working in CT that time.

Default Medical Exam.

What is the ball park figure for Medical per person? Is it a good idea to go to PCP for some vaccinations and blood work? Any suggestions for good civil surgeons in the greater Houston area? Thank you in advance.

You can save some money by going to PCP for vaccinations. And make sure you take the paperwork before going to civil surgeon.

Default Doesnt matter

Doesn't matter where you take the tests. For 200 dollars you will have your rests in a couple of days

Please note that :
Most Insurances do cover Vaccination. So get the vaccination done by your doctor, take the proof from him to USCIS civil surgeon.
If you don't have the proof, then Civil Surgeon will give you vaccination & will charge you at his will. You will be left with no choice .
In my case, she charged us $100 each for my wife & me - she could've easily done through insurance but she didn't do it. I think insurance pay them very less ($20-$30) for these vaccinations as compared to $100.

I called up a Civil Surgeon in Boston and she told me two things --

1) They do not do vaccination. I will need to get it throuhg my Primary Care . She is even OK getting the TB skin test and X-ray (if required) through PCP

2) Not to have MMR vaccine before the TB test. Once you take MMR, you cannot do TB test for 6 weeks (don't know why) .

I am planning to go to her and return to PCP for vaccine after I am done with her. I can then give her the vaccine report and get it cleared

I live in Boston area. Which doctor in Boston did you call? I called my insurance to check if the vaccinations are covered but they need the code - where can I find out the codes for these vaccinations?

Hi gaz. I will just be getting current next month or in Feb 2013 for filing I485. I am in a situation like you. My LCA is from CA wherelse I work & live in NJ. So my question is:
1. What did you finally do to get your Medical Tests done?
2. Did the Immigration guys raise any questions and/or were there any RFE?

Thanks in advance for valuable advice/s friends.

I attended a university in US for MS and had submitted the immunization records to the University in 2002 as a part of the university regulation to be immunized. I got a letter from the university detailing the immunizations that I had submitted back then.

Does anyone know if the civil surgeon will accept the letter from the University that the person is compliant of the listed immunizations including MMR and chicken pox ?

Hi. From the research which I have done by calling several civil surgeons is that you will have to talk to the receptionist & tell them that you have the immunization records and would like to run it by the doctor to see if they will issue certificate based on that record. Some doctors' may accept or would say that you will have to get them done again. One of the doctor even said that even if you take the shots once again, it will not cost your life as you have got it done several years ago.

If I may ask which state are you in?

Thanks.

Fantastic! Thanks for the response SGP. I'll try calling around. I'm in MA.
