Default Missed my finger printing apointment, had to travel due to death in family

Hello,

My FP date was Nov 16th. My father passed away on Nov 9th.
I posted "certified" the letter to USCIS, 2040 Telegraph Ave, Oakland office the sameday asking for rescheduling. When I checked online letter was unclaimed till Nov 27th and returned to my address on Dec 4th. I have the proof to show i.e. receipt and tracking info. etc.

Am still in India taking care of family matters.

a) Can I still request for finger printing when I get back or is it considered abandonment?
b) If I can, how much time I have?

Highly appreciate your help.

Regards
Gaurav

When I went for my FP appointment I asked them how long the appointment is valid. They said it is valid for 3 months from the date of appoitment. So you probably can come back and still go for it.

First, ask your attorney to inform USCIS that you were not able to make it due to family emergency. Since you have a proof of request for reschedule - even if something happens, you can make USCIS accept. If you come back before mid Jan - I think you should be able to do the walk-in FP. Good luck

I'm sorry for your loss. With regards to your FP issue, I had the same problem (I was outside the country at the time my appointment was scheduled for). I simply walked in to the ASC (Salinas) and got my FP processed when I returned. No questions were asked.

I first tried the San Jose ASC, but they asked me to reschedule my appointment. I had no such problems with the Salinas ASC.

Hello All,

thank you so much for positive responses. I have been wait listed for
JAN 19th 2007 on my return flight as am trying to bring my mother with me .
Hopefully it should get confirmed.

Based on responses above it seems I have 90 days to walk in and get the fingerprinting done. Also, I'll go to SALINAS,CA ASC instead of OAKLAND,CA, seems like some of you have had a good experience.

I'll also inform my lawyer of the situation ASAP.

lets hope all goes well.

best regards
Gaurav

i got fringerprint notice today at sanjose but my wife air ticket was booked for today to go india.
we went to SALINAS,CA ASC office with out asking any questions they allowed us to give fringer printing they not even seeing my appointment date and center

SALINAS,CA ASC is one of the good place to go who want to travel before finger printing schedule date
