Default Reentry with US Citizen child. What line to stand in ?

As you know whiole entering USA there are different lines for US Citizens/PR's and others. I have heard different things on what to do when entering with US Citizen child.

1) Many people tell me its best to go through the "others" line with the child.

2) My friend was recently entering through Dallas on AP and went through the US Citizen line with his son and was allowed to pass through without issues ?

Has anyone had issues either way ? Since the lines for US citizens are shorter and with a kid it makes sense to go through those if allowed. Also since most ppl on AP are sent on secondary inspection anyway it may make sense to use the US Citizen line if allowed.

Please note this is for child who cant go through immigration on their own like someone who is 2-3 v/s 13-14.

Thanks

You should not be going in the US Citiziens line. I recently came from India and they were announcing, if dependents are US Citizens but are travelling with Non Citizen, then stay in the Non Citizen line.

My wife was told to go to the US citizen line in Houston last month. I guess it depends on the officers.

In Houston and Dallas the officers seem to allow the use of US citizen lines even if one person ion the family is carrying a US passport.

Standing in the US citizen line at the airport does not give you a green card.

If the US citizen line is empty, the officers ask you to go stand there to minimize congestion.

I really do not understand that highly skilled people open up threads discussing such waste topics.

What is so fascinating about standing in different queues? And if at all you go through the line quickly because you were in the US citizen queue, you will get stuck in the baggage claim.

This is the last week on the admin fix campaign, IV is working extremely hard behind the scenes to make this campaign successful.

IV is an organization working every minute to fix issues faced by EB immigrants, and here a bunch of people just killing time talking about citizen restrooms or non citizen restrooms, citizen line or non citizen line, citizen food or non citizen food

All I can say is you probably havent had the experience of taking a flight for 18-24 hrs with a toddler.

Some things are to be gone through and experienced to understand how they feel. What you are classifying as trivial your US citizen friends may also consider getting a GC to be trivial.

And what if the toddler is not a US citizen?

You gotta be kidding...

I can stand any number of hours in non-immigrants queue, I guess I got used to after waiting in the queue for GC so long time

slightly unrelated question - but some perspective would be welcome.

if a child is born to immigrant (H1/ GC - whatever) parents in US and the parents do not want the child to be a US Citizen (say, in my case, i apply for an Indian passport for the child) - what is the immigration status of the child when the Indian passport arrives.....for H1 parents - probably its easy to file H4....what happens if parents have GC? dependant GC processing is a long drawn process......

The reason i ask this question is that the apparent lure and perceived value of a US Citizenship has become so high that people often do not consider other alternatives.....i am hoping to be able to be in a position to make the right choice when the time comes for me.........
