Default How long is I-140 approval taking these days

My I-140 application was submitted to TSC on March 16th - No change as of yet... I thought most cases were being decided in 3 months. Can others share their I-140 approval experience. Thanks!

Yes - I know ... That is where I see no change in status .... I'm just wondering what the average wait time is these days for I-140 - A colleague of mine got his approval within 3 months but its been almost 4 months for me now

I must have been little bit more detailed and I don't know if you know this as well but you can check the average processing times based on the form and service centre at the bottom of that link under "PROCESSING TIMES" section.

Mine was applied in CSC on 16th Dec 2010 and got approved on 12th Apr 2011. I think it changes across service centers.

The USCIS website sucks - As long as you have the approval notice you are fine .... Last month I got my AP (from my wifes GC application) and the website still showed pending even after I received the AP document

Default Extra $1225 brings it down to 4 days....

Unless there is any other complication TSC approved my EB2 I-140 App in 4 business using Premium route. I would recommend using Premium even though it means wasting$1225.

I got my fingers burnt back in 2007 while I tried to save $1000 ( premium fees that time) for my old Eb3 I-140 - it took a 19 months including a bogus RFE that they sent just to delay things. Because Housing recession kicked in ...

I would have got it in Premium in 15 days and my life would have greened and changed within 2007-08 before we started feeling the effect of Housing recession in 2009-2010.

Go Premium - Highskilled folks make that $1225 in few days !!

TSC is currently processing Sep 2010 I-140 filing so I am hoping mine gets approved next month. For yours, which was filed in Mar 2011, you should be looking for at least Jan 2012 for the approval to come.

Whats the point in wasting $$$ on premium when you know you have over 2 years before you become current ???

It's not just about money. Whilst, everyone has a different point of view on this. I agree with Diptam, a lot can happen in 19 months, for example, sponsoring company can go bankrupt and lay off the candidate with no time remaining in H-1B. Atleast with an approved I-140 in hand the candidate can get 3 years extension!!

Default Ha! Ha! that's what I also thought ...

uscis_lover,

Buddy, your thought process was exactly same as mine 4 yrs back.... With I-140 approval lot of other goodies also come with...
a) With I-140 approval your PD become locked and portable within 6 months. So the point is flexibility.

b) With I-140 approval your H1 can be extended and stamped for 3 years instead of 1 year - Money savings and Risk reduction

c) The most important point which someone mentioned above is what if the company lays off or another recession kicks in due to factors not controlled by you ? I-140 approval gives you Security

As I said I've burnt my 10 fingers with mistakes after mistakes in immigration stuffs due because I haven't thought long term. So I'm sharing my experience and comments so that no one else has to burn their fingers like me.

Rest is on individual what they want to do - That's all.

Regards,
Diptam

Default I did that Sir !!

I did file I-485 in July 2007 while my I-140 was pending and got EAD and AP also !!

However unless the I-140 is APPROVED your PD never gets locked or portable. For charging AC21 and become portable the I-140 needs to be APPROVED. NO pending business here.

Please read the few points that I mentioned above.

If your Perm was approved and when the gates were opened in July 2007, why didnt you file the 485 concurrently with I-140? According to the rule you dont need to have an approved I-140 to file the 485 and the 765.

Anything you can get it done sooner is the best approach when it comes to GC processing as you never know what is going to happen next. So, the $$$ you spent will never go waste! My $0.02 for you
