Gandhi's Birthday : IMPORTANT MESSAGE TO TEAM IV

Dear fellow IVans - today is October 2nd, the day Mahatma Gandhi was born. Lets take a moment to remember this great soul

A 80 LB MAN DRESSED IN A LOIN CLOTH MOBLIZED MILLIONS OF MASSES AND SHATTERED THE MIGHTY BRITISH EMPIRE.

Now, we all know that retrogression is not going to end unless we do something about it.

It is time we stop thinking and start acting. A lot of people are sitting on the fence - and ignore requests to participate in State chapters. Please come forward and start participating in the State chapter activities.

It is a great feeling that we are helping ourselves and once you jump the fence, you will love it.

Keep all your excuses inside your cupboard and start acting right now.

Join your state chapter or if you don't find your state chapter start one by informing paskal or pappu.

Yes, do it right now.

Long Live Mahatma's philosophy.. WE can definitely demonstrate throught peaceful means..one suggestion we just keep the issue burning by doing one or the other innovative things like flower campaign etc...as Mahatma did... like salt law, swadeshi movement, non -cooperation etc...
Any ideas from members ...
Thanks :)

well said Suman - thats why we are trying to mobilize State chapters - a lot of IV members are sitting on the fence. We must interface them through State Chapters.

Everyone must know it is time to act and not time to talk

I respect all the efforts of the IV members and well wishers but quoting gandhiji who liberalised our nation from rulers for a immigration cause is not appropriate. We came to US by choice. Why don't all of us [great minds] think to make our country economically strong and in other areas such as politics etc ....As this is the age of great minds which we have.

Rev.M.L.King Jr was inspired by the Mahatma to lead the Civil Rights movement in a non-violent way - he has written about it movingly in his auto-biography. Mahatma was ofcourse inspired by Thoreau to launch the civil dis-obedience movement. So there's a long history of give & take between the two nations. Besides, Mahatma's ideas and methods are arguably universal & timeless. It's to the credit of the Americans (and their govt) that it didn't take forever once the movement started to enact the civil rights act and become a truly civilized nation. So it's not farfetched to argue that he was instrumental in liberating Americans as well - and none of us would be here even as a 'Non-Resident Alien' but for the Mahatma.
