Since the housing situation has not improved and our problems continue to be the same - will the strategy proposed here work on the new congress?

IV Team -

Can we take this up again. The housing market has not shown any drastic improvement and neither has the GC prospects.

Thanks

This is almost impossible to implement...which place to buy house? who will buy ? illegals,h1b, b1 visitor who ? what price 500K house 300K house ...1 million K house.

We already have a investor category for investment upto 500K or 1 million.

What is meaning of buy...all cash or debt driven purchase ?

There is no way to prove H1B will buy a house? How many houses? What value? Which H1B will buy and which one not? Do not tell me we do anonymous poll or online petition on a thread and prove it. The thread advocates should come with concrete proposal that saying we should do it. Who is we? And what will you do? I think it is a crap idea started on 09-23-2008 and nothing done or achieved. Did anyone even talk to someone and post update? Anyone contacted and interview in media on this? Did anyone contribute money to lobby this idea? So why discuss and waste time. Let us just focus on Recapture and not discuss new idea everyday to waste time.

IMHB - I sort of agree with you but just curious ...what reasons would you give to justify Recapture ?

I went to see your posts and you are one of the leaders of this idea. You have posted mostly on this topic. You have been only posting on housing for last 2 years. What have you done other than posting. Have you interviewed with TV newspaper on your own? Any Senator or association you met? What is your success rate of 2 years for your idea?

I said recapture because Lofgren at least had a bill for it in 2008 and CIR drafts had it too. So there is some success, But the housing idea is only talk and nothing to show by people who talk of this idea.

Default WSJ: Immigrants Buoy the Housing Market

Just wanted to share this news published in WSJ today (i.e. 03/07/2013).

Immigrants Buoy the Housing Market - WSJ.com
Immigrants Buoy the Housing Market

Quote:
All told, the number of foreign-born homeowners in the U.S. has increased each decade since 1990. Immigrants, who represent about 13% of the U.S. population, accounted for 39% of net growth in homeowners between 2000 and 2010. They will represent 36% of that growth in the 2010-2020 span, the report projects.
Quote:
Immigrants represented 82% of the growth in homeownership in California and 65% in New York during that period.
