As per their website it is no longer required to have a job offer to apply for Alberta GC. It may be noted that its a provincial green card and requires you to work a minimum of 2 years in Alberta before you are free to move anywhere in Canada. You may visit the http://albertacanada.com/immigration/campaigns/h1b.html
for more information.

Default Moving to Alberta

Hi Friends,

I hold a Canada PR as well. The main issue seems to be not the climate but the lack of jobs. If I were to get a good job I would have migrated to Canada atleast 2 years back. Where can we find out about the jobs in Alberta?

Thanks for your help!

Whatever happens from here they are at least responsive and courteous.
I think you e-mailed them this morning, right? That was pretty quick response.

I e-mailed them about 4PM MST, I have not heard anything from them. I guess it was just Friday evening, everybody wanted to go home early. I did not send the form, I just wanted to ask them if I can send my pre-assessment form even though I still have to wait 2 more months to be on H1-B for a year.

Sorry! can't help you with your job search, but wondering how long ago did you get your PR. It looks like everybody in this forum has Canadian PR. Was it very easy to get one in the past?

I emailed around 3PM EST with the form filled out. I did not attach any supporting documents.

Thanks. I have a feeling that they might not invite me to apply as I have not even worked for 1 year on H1B. Even after a year on H1-B, they might not like it as they are aiming for those who have been in the US on H1-B for a long time. I have a few years of experience as a Systems Analyst before I got my H1-B (student job for 6 years + 2 OPT years), but a very little on H1-B.

How long have you been on H1-B and what is your job title?

Going on the 9th year now, Programmer Analyst. Previous H1 was for Systems Analyst.

Thanks. You were the perfect candidate for what Alberta is looking for. Good luck with the rest of the process.

A quick question for those who recently received an invitation to apply and the application package.

Do you need to send any money (fees) with the application? Thanks.

I rarely visit this forum nowadays. Back in April I wrote a rather long post where you can find some answers:

I'm currently a sr. systems analyst with a consulting company working in the area of electronic document management. My IT experience is very diverse, and I found good use of many of my skills with the company I'm work for now. I plan to become a project manager and obtain a PMP certification in the next 1.5 - 2 years, and my employer assists me with all means possible to achieve my career goals. I have a Canadian PR, since I went through the entire federal independent immigration process, which took about 1.5 years.

Thanks okuzmin. It is quite informative.

Smile You can complete process from your home country as well

All,

I am just about to move back to India as my company decided to re-locate me in absence of any job in US.

Gingie told me that even if I apply for pre-assesment now I can complete remaining process from Canadian Embassy in New Delhi (though it may take bit longer) .

So all I have to do is send some docs through email and get canadian PR in an years time.

this is gr8 news for those in same boat as I am.

Also Gingie told me after getting PR I am free to live and work anywhere in Canada. There is no limitation that I have to live and work in Alberta(though we intend to do so at time of application).

Only there was a remark that we need to cmplete landing process in Alberta. Additonally Gingie told that Alberta's economy is stongest in Canada and hence possibility of jobs in more there.

let me know if anyone needs additional info.

Have you already received the full application package or you are about to send docs for pre-assesment? If you have received the full package, have they mentioned fees there?

All the best in India.
