Default Upgrade from EB2 to EB1

Hello,
does anyone know, if it is possible to upgrade EB2 to EB1 category?
My I-140 is approved under EB2 category and came to know that I have to wait for a very long period to apply I-485 form.

There are some really stringent requirements for EB1. You can check these requirements online. If you qualify, you could reduce your wait time significantly.

Also, from what I understand, there is no risk associated to moe to EB1 as your EB2 application will remain valid, even if your EB1 application gets denied or doesn't make it through.

One of my friends actually moved from EB3 to EB1 successfuly.

Good Luck!

Thanks for your suggestion.
I am waiting for my employer to give me a promotion ad then I can apply for EB1.
But One more question last time when I filled my I-140 for under EB2 category, I collected some reference letters from various professors, Can I still used them when I will file a new I-140 under EB1 category or I have to get new letters?

thanks once again.

Getting promoted to Manager won't make us eligible for EB1, right? I am on EB3 as well and my manager is opening a new manager position for me to join. Will it make me eligible for EB1? Please suggest.

Thanks in advance.

It is not whether you get promoted to Manager or not..The position should require what are called "Exceptional Abilities". Also, many of us who are already managers are in EB2 but EB1 requires very stringent educational, experiential and thought leadership (papers, articles etc) skills. An attorney can guide you through the process.
