Post Immigration Statistics from DHS

Immigration Statistics from DHS

Yearbook of Immigration Statistics 2006 Page 33.

I was trying to get total number of EB visa per country and found these references from DHS site. Page 33 on the second link gives exact numbers/country for EB visa.

I thought of sharing this info with you guys. This is very useful for immigrants who want to know more in numbers.

For diversity visa if your spouse comes from a country where DV is offered then you can file under him/ her and get the benefit. Thats the loophole in the system, drive into it and get your GC ASAP.

Can anybody explain this ?

Employment Preference Limit
The annual limit is equal to 140,000 plus unused family-sponsored preferences in the previous fiscal year. There were 3,949 unused family sponsored preferences in 2005. The 2006 employment preference limit was 143,949 (140,000 plus 3,949). The limit is
28.6 percent of the total for each of the first three employment preferences and 7.1 percent for the last two preferences. In 2006, the number of employment-based preference immigrants exceeded the above limit. This was due to the REAL ID Act of 2005, which recaptured 50,000 unused employment-based visas, 33,341 of which were used in 2006.

The retrogression is based on TOTAL visas not just employment. So Korea has a total of 24K or was it 28K. While China has > 80K. Hence China is retrogressed but not Korea.
