Default Indian passport renewal at Indian NY embassy via mail

Hi,
Hope someone can help out. I have tried calling NY embassy, but just get answering machines.

I am planning to apply for my Indian passport renewal to NY embassy via mail. I live in Massachusetts, so going to NY is a hassle. I am confused about the online pplication form? Do people applying via mail need to fill this out. When I did that, it offered me an appointment date, but I am planning to not go in person. So, am confused. Has anyone done this application via mail recently and can help?

Thanks very much
SK

Default Its very easy, I got mine in 2 weeks.

Sent my PP renewal in Dec 2010, received by counslate on on Dec 15, 2010.
Received back on Dec 30, 2010.

Make sure you send all the documents listed on the website and make sure you do notary to the one required.

Yes, I am following the steps on there. But filling out the application form step is unclear for people applying via mail. Curious if anyone had just recently done this via mail and if they got the message on appointment time when they filled out the online form.

Default Received Passport

Application received by NY Embassy on March 8 (mail).
I received back new pp on March 20.

That was 8 working days and pretty awesome IMO!

Old passport was issued in Bangalore. After sending i was worried because I did not attest the Visa documents but looks like that wasn't a problem. I also added my spouse name (we got married here and not registered in India yet) without any problem by sending marriage certificate + 2 photos from marriage + spouses pp copy.
