Smile B1 visa to J1 visa - Where i can get stamped, INDIA or US, Wher its easy..!

Im on B1 visa and now planing to change to J1. My college would file for J1 and send the documents. Currently i am in India. Where it is easy to get stamped in US or INDIA.
If its easy possible i will go US and change there. Is there any issues if i get stamped in India.
What is the better way to get it. In confusion. Please suggest me. Appreciate in advance.

Thank you

Visa stamping can only happen at the embassy in India. Once your J1 visa is approved your B1 visa will be void so you really won't have a choice.
Now if your status changes in the US you will still need to get your J1 visa stamped at a post abroad whenever you leave the US for re-entry.
It will be advisable for you to have your new visa stamped in your passport before you apply for your social security number because you will not be eligible for the same on B visa.
