Question Commuting Windsor - Detroit with pending I-90

Hello everyone,

I am looking to apply I-90 to change my Green card to commuter status so i can live in Windsor and commute daily to work. Anyone know if I can start to commute from Canada while I-90 is pending (may be with receipt notice?) or I need to wait until i receive the physical commuter green card. Looks like it is taking 3 to 4 months for I-90.
