Default Name Change during Naturalization

HI All,

I'm planning to submit my N400 next month and I have an issue with my last name, they combined my two word(XXXX YYYY) last name to one word(XXXXYYYY) during immigration 10 years back. I lived with it all along but now I'm thinking of changing it to YYYY only and hence change to all my family members.

Just wanted to take your opinion.

1. Did anyone go through this process? if so can u explain how this worked.
2. Does this delay my naturalization process?

any inputs suggestions welcome

thanks!!

I strongly suggest to do name change after you naturalize. Otherwise, it will delay your naturalization significantly.

I would say the opposite - it is quite easy to change the name during Naturalization
I know of a few spouses who changed their last names during Naturalization - all subsequent documents have the corrected/updated name.
Mind you, that you can always change your name after Naturalization - it can be done! My belief is it is easier *During* the naturalization process..
Good luck!
